Who we are

Desktop Glow is a free pack of four apps for Windows (Island, Mond Clock, Living Wallpaper and Island Cursors) and its installer, made by Felipe, an individual in Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil, who signs his work as Felipe Sites (a name, not a company). Contact: felipe.sites0@gmail.com.

Free and open source

The apps and the installer are free and open source under the MIT license. You can use, copy, change and share them, including in commercial work, as long as the license notice goes along. There is nothing to buy and no account to create.

No warranty

As the MIT license says, the software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, the author is not liable for any damage or loss that comes from using it. Use it at your own risk and keep backups of what matters to you.

What the installer changes on your PC

Depending on what you choose, the installer copies the apps into your user folder, adds them to "start with Windows", creates logon tasks in Task Scheduler to open them first, creates shortcuts, and switches your mouse pointers. It does not need administrator rights, except when Windows asks for them to install a missing requirement (.NET, Python or WebView2) through winget. Settings, Apps, Desktop Glow, Uninstall undoes all of it and brings your previous pointers back; each app's own settings stay on the PC in case you install again.

Once it runs, the Island adds a small integration file to Counter-Strike 2 and turns on Rocket League's local stats setting, so it can show the live score; both can be turned off in its settings.

Unsigned software

The installer is not digitally signed. Windows SmartScreen may warn before opening it, and with Smart App Control turned on Windows may refuse it. Only download it from this site, and you can compare its SHA-256 with the one published with each release.

Other services

Some features show or use content from other services (for example weather, sports scores, Steam, or an AI assistant you connect with your own key). Those services have their own terms, and what you send them is between you and them. The privacy page lists each one.

Your content

You are responsible for what you load into the apps, such as your own videos, pictures and web pages used as wallpapers, and for having the right to use them.

Trademarks

Desktop Glow is an independent project, not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple, Microsoft, Valve, Wallpaper Engine or GitHub. Dynamic Island, iPhone, Windows, Steam, Wallpaper Engine and GitHub are trademarks of their owners and are named only to describe what the apps work with or are inspired by. The Quicksand font is used under the SIL Open Font License.

Sponsoring

Sponsoring through GitHub Sponsors is voluntary and does not buy a product, a feature or support. Payments are handled by GitHub under its own terms.

Changes and law

These terms can change; the date at the top says when. They are governed by the laws of Brazil, without prejudice to the rights you have where you live.
